Calling All South Florida Artists!

The City of Coral Springs Public Art Committee has put out a request for proposals for the new Municipal Complex of Coral Springs. This is a great opportunity for an artist to not only display their work, but have it become part of the Coral Springs community. The finished project should be a series of integrated artworks within the building’s interior or site structures (i.e.: building floor, pillars, hanging art from walls or ceiling, wall fountain, water feature, chandeliers, kinetic or interactive structures). Design of the building has begun and the selected artist will work with the facility architect, Song + Associates, Inc. The selected artist will be expected to engage with City staff, the project architect and area residents to develop the concept for their work. The artwork should assist in creating an appealing design that addresses and welcomes neighborhood residents to the City’s new Municipal Complex and creates a sense of unity in the community as well as the City’s mission, “To be the premier community in which to live, work and raise a family.” What better way to contribute to your community than by helping create it? More details about the project and how to submit your proposal can be found here.

Also, artists and art enthusiasts, don’t forget this Thursday August 20th is the “Masterpiece Event: Blame it on Rio!” at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. This lively carnival, full of Brazilian spirit, flavor and flair, will celebrate famed artist Romero Britto, his iconic artwork currently on display at the Museum, and his treasured homeland.
