Ready to relocate to the sunshine state? We don’t blame you!

South Florida is one of the best places to live in the country, and people relocate here in all seasons. But, we’d argue that Autumn is one of the best seasons to move to South Florida, especially if you’re coming from a cooler state or a state with more severe weather.

Why?

Because Autumn temperatures are mild here. Warm, but not usually scorching, and the weather is often good for moving and movers.

That said, even though Autumn is one of the best times to relocate, it’s still important to be prepared for moving to South Florida. Here’s what you need to know.

Tips And Tricks For Moving To Florida In Autumn

Moving is always tricky, and it can seem overwhelming at first. Here are some of the top tips and tricks for moving to South Florida in Autumn. Listening to these tips will help you keep your move manageable and keep you from getting burnt out while you unpack.

Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen

In other states, sunscreen might only be necessary for the Summer, but here in the sunshine state, you’ll want to use sunscreen year-round. Don’t let cooler Autumn temperatures fool you, sunburns can and will happen if you’re outside for too long.

So, keep your favorite sunscreen handy, and don’t forget to reapply if you’re outside for more than a couple of hours while you unload.

Bring Extra Hydration

When you first move to South Florida it can be easy to forget that you need to stay hydrated, especially if you’re coming from a state that doesn’t have much natural humidity.

There’s lots of water in the air, but you still need to drink more water to make sure your body has what it needs.

Plus, since moving is hot and sweaty work, consider getting an electrolyte drink like Gatorade, Propel, or Liquid IV to help keep your energy levels up and prevent the mid-move crash!

Take Frequent Breaks

Did we mention the mid-move crash? Because that’s a thing.

If you aren’t pacing yourself through the move you might get halfway unloaded, or just ready to unpack, and suddenly hit a wall.

Taking frequent breaks won’t stop you from getting tired, but it will help you get more done before you hit your limits. Even a couple of minutes of break time can be enough to help keep you going for the rest of the hour.

Try To Organize Your Boxes So It’s Easier To Unpack

One trick for making moving easier is to label your boxes clearly, and in the order, you want to unpack them. Any boxes that should be opened first, like your kitchen equipment, bedding and towels, and other necessary items should be labeled with both the contents and a #1 for when you should unpack.

After that, consider numbering the boxes that should be unpacked 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th so it’s easier to stay organized when you’re tired and just want to settle in.

Take Advantage Of Florida’s Natural Beauty Right Away

Moving getting a little overwhelming?

Almost anyone reaches a point in a move when they just want everything to be over, and they don’t want to keep looking at empty rooms and packing boxes any longer.

Our tip? Don’t force yourself to keep unpacking when you hit that point. As long as your necessary items are unpacked and ready, it’s time to leave and start getting to know your new home.

Find a restaurant that sounds good for dinner, or takes advantage of Florida’s wonderful weather and warm Autumn temperature to visit a local park, or cool off at the nearest beach.

Not only will that help you feel better after the move, but you’re also starting a habit of spending time outside and enjoying everything South Florida has to offer.
