Landscaping is an important aspect of home ownership, but can also be an important step when it comes to trying to sell one as well. You don’t need to plant a ton of new flowers or shrubs, but you should take some time to complete a few steps to ensure your yard is fresh, beautiful, and therefore desirable to a potential buyer.
One of the first steps is to treat the grass and mow it on a regular basis. A common threat to the grass in South Florida is dehydration and browning, which can make a home look worn down and poorly cared for. This isn’t your fault, but can leave a lasting impact on the buyer.
To make the lawn look more tempting, consider applying some fresh grass seed and fertilizer and watering on a regular basis. Over the next few weeks, the grass will become green and healthy again, leaving a great first impression. It would also be a good idea to spray for crabgrass and other weeds, especially any that grown around the mailbox, driveway, and porch.
Tree maintenance is the next step and might require some expertise. If you can, trim any dead or dying branches and pick up sticks that have fallen on the ground. Also rake away any leaves that have fallen. Again, the goal is to leave behind a neat appearance. If you have shrubs, bushes, and other leafy plants growing, give them a trim with some shears.
Flowers aren’t for everyone, but even planting some perennials is often a good idea to once again get some attention from buyers. A couple of colorful options that grow well in South Florida include the Gaillardia pulchella or Blanket Flower, the Firebush, and Spiderwort. These plants are easy to identify among natives, and are popular because they are drought-resistant and require little work.
Besides focusing on the yard itself, consider patching up the condition of the garage, any sheds, and the driveway. You don’t need to go all out and build new ones. Instead, consider adding a new coat of paint or varnish. If the door has rusty hinges, give them some oil. If the inside is a mess, do some basic cleaning. A little goes a long way.
These simple steps are part of regular yard maintenance and can go a long way to turning your South Florida home into a hot commodity. To know more, visit: https://www.greatfloridahomes.com/
