Whether you’ve lived in South Florida your whole life or just moved here recently, there are a few things that everyone should see in South Florida.
Here are some of the top summer destinations you should check out this summer.
The Southernmost point buoy is a landmark here in South Florida. You could be forgiven for thinking that the Southernmost point in the contiguous U.S. is in Texas, but it’s actually right here in Florida.
This Buoy is built to last too, and has already survived several hurricanes intact.
Just be forewarned that this is the most photographed spot in Florida so you might have to deal with some crowds while you’re there.
When most people think of coral reefs, they think of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, or else of the reefs you can see in Hawaii or other tropical destinations. But you can see beautiful coral reefs right here in South Florida too!
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park offers a range of options, including snorkeling tours and glass bottom boat tours so you can get a closer look at the corals.
The Everglades are a classic Florida destination, and there are a lot of reasons not to skip this visit. Not only can you learn more about the unique ecology of the State here, the Everglades are genuinely one of the most unique ecosystems in the world.
There are a lot of different ways to enjoy the Everglades. Hiking trails, guided walks and boat tours, bird watching, and education programs for people of all ages help make sure there’s always something to do. Even if you’re no outdoorsman, there’s something here for you.
If you really want to get a sense of South Florida culture and nightlife, Fort Myer’s Downtown, better known as the River District, is one of the best places you can go.
Live events happen all summer in the River District, which only add to the unique atmosphere. Boutique stores, fantastic restaurants, and lively nightclubs set the pace in this neighborhood.
Even if you’ve been before, its worth coming back to see what events are happening live this summer!
Sanibel is one of two islands off the coast of South Florida, and is one of the best destinations if you’re looking to see some of South Florida’s unique ecosystems. Complete with tropical landscapes, white sand beaches, and mangroves you can kayak through, Sanibel Island has plenty to offer visitors.
Of course, there are also plenty of hotels, restaurants, and nightlife destinations to keep you busy throughout your stay.
If you want to be able to visit all of South Florida’s amazing destinations anytime you want to, the best way to do it is to live right here in South Florida.
